WebVitalsDev privacy policy

This policy explains the data handling associated with browsing the site and using its tools.

Updated

Browsing and browser storage

WebVitalsDev is a static publication hosted on shared hosting. It does not provide user accounts or a contact form. The hosting service processes requests needed to deliver pages and may retain server logs containing information such as IP addresses, request times, requested paths and browser information.

The site uses browser local storage for checklist progress, theme preferences and the consent choice. These records remain in the browser rather than forming a synchronized user account. You can remove them through your browser's site-data controls; doing so can reset saved progress and preferences.

Tools that run locally

The metric checker, image savings calculator and checklist operate in the browser. Their calculation inputs are not submitted to the site's server as part of those local calculations. Ordinary page requests can still appear in hosting logs, and any separately enabled analytics is governed by the consent behavior described below.

Do not use tool fields to store secrets or private customer information. Browser storage is not a secure vault and can be affected by device access, browser settings or clearing site data.

PageSpeed analyzer requests

When the live analyzer is enabled and you submit a URL, that URL is sent through the site's server to Google's PageSpeed Insights API. The returned result is cached briefly, and a short-lived per-IP request counter is used to reduce abuse. This processing is separate from the browser-only tools.

Submit public URLs without credentials, access tokens or private query information. Google processes the request under its own service practices. The analyzer cannot promise that an external response will include every metric or that the service will always be available.

Optional analytics

Google Analytics 4 is used only if it is enabled for the site and you have consented. If enabled after consent, it can use cookies or related identifiers to provide website-usage reporting. Declining optional analytics does not prevent reading the editorial content or using browser-only calculations.

The site's consent choice is stored locally. To change how your browser handles stored information, use its site-data and cookie settings and the site's available consent controls. Removing storage can cause the consent interface to ask again.

Email contact and information sharing

If you email [email protected], the information you send is used to understand and respond to your inquiry, including a correction or accessibility report. Do not include unnecessary sensitive information.

WebVitalsDev does not sell personal data. Hosting, email and the explicitly described Google services may process information needed for their roles. No additional advertising or analytics arrangement should be assumed from a placement invitation on the site.

Retention, requests and changes

Browser records remain subject to browser settings and deletion. The analyzer uses brief result caching and a short-lived abuse counter. Exact hosting-log, email and service retention settings depend on the relevant configuration; this policy does not promise an unverified deletion interval.

For a privacy question or request concerning information you have supplied, contact [email protected]. Applicable rights and obligations depend on the laws that apply to the operator and the processing concerned. This policy does not claim a particular certification or blanket legal compliance.

Material changes to site processing should be reflected here. The cookie policy explains browser storage and optional analytics in more detail.
