WebVitalsDev cookie and browser-storage policy

Local browser preferences and optional analytics have different purposes and behavior.

Updated

Local storage used by the site

WebVitalsDev stores the selected theme, consent choice and performance-checklist progress in your browser's local storage. Local storage is a browser mechanism distinct from cookies, although both can retain information between visits.

These records support the relevant interface behavior. They are not a WebVitalsDev account and are not automatically synchronized between devices. A private session, blocked storage or cleared site data can prevent preferences from being retained.

Optional analytics cookies

Google Analytics 4 is loaded only if the site enables it and you consent. When used, its cookies and identifiers support usage measurement. The presence of analytics capability in the site does not mean analytics is active for every visit.

Declining optional analytics leaves the publication and browser-only tools available. This policy does not describe future advertising trackers as if they were already installed. Any additional storage or tracking must be reviewed and disclosed before use.

Manage or remove stored information

Use your browser's controls to inspect or clear cookies and site data for webvitalsdev.com. Clearing local storage can reset the theme, consent choice and saved checklist progress. Take a copy of the checklist summary first if you need that record.

If the site presents consent controls, use them to review the available choice. Browser settings can also restrict storage, but restrictions may prevent preferences from being saved. Local-storage records do not have a universal browser-enforced expiry period; their persistence depends on site behavior and browser controls.

Storage is not the whole data flow

The PageSpeed analyzer, when enabled, sends the submitted URL through the server to Google and uses brief server-side caching and a short-lived per-IP request counter. Hosting logs can also record page requests. These are separate from the local-storage items described above.

Read the privacy policy for those processing activities. Questions about browser storage or consent can be sent to [email protected]. Do not include passwords or other secrets in a support request.
